Beti Bachao Beti Padhao “Save the Daughter, Teach the Daughter” “The hand that rocks the cradle, the procreator, the mother of tomorrow; a woman shapes the destiny of civilization. Such is the tragic irony of fate, that a beautiful creation such as the girl child is today one of the gravest concerns facing humanity”.

To check discrimination and violence against women is one of the prime challenges of the government and the entire society. And education is the key to achieve this goal. President Bidya Devi Bhandari o highlighted the importance of educating girls in order to materialise the goals of Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali. Inaugurating the Daughter Education Insurance Fix Saving Programme under the Beti Padhau, Beti Bachau introduced by State 2 government in Birgunj, Bhandari noted that education would play a vital role to change the negative attitude towards daughters and women and eradicate the bad practices like harassment, violence and dowry system. The Constitution has ended all kinds of discriminations against women; however, only a small percentage of Nepali women know the statute has granted them a status at par with the males. So it is necessary for the state to work in cooperation with other stakeholders promoting educating among women so that they would be able to enjoy the rights and privileges stipulated in the Constitution and other laws. Beti Padhau, Beti Bachau is a vital step towards spreading education among girls and women and building a more equitable society in Sate 2 that the other States of the country can emulate. Only by educating maximum number of girls and women can we empower them to stand up for their rights and combat discriminations and injustice against them and pave the way towards prosperous and peaceful society.
