Rajbiraj, 9 August: The Province 2 government has distributed agricultural equipment to the farmers of the Saptari district in an effort to make their technology savvy.
The objective behind the distribution is to increase the production by modernising the agricultural sector and improving the living standards of the farmers.
Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperative Shailendra Prasad Sah has distributed machinery tools and equipment to 160 farmers in the district.
A total of 116 electric tractors, one mini-tiller, six aerators, 10 deep fridges, nine water pumps, five water pump motor, and 10 chilling vat have been distributed to the farmers.
While distributing the agricultural equipment, Minister Sah expressed confidence that the agricultural equipment would make the farmers engaged in agriculture and increase their production.
He said that mechanisation in agriculture would reduce the cost and help the farmers grappling with the labour problems as well as increase their profits.
Stating that the government had given special priority to the agriculture sector in its policies and programmes, Minister Sah also informed that the government had provided some tools free of cost and some in 25 per cent to 75 per cent subsidy.
The equipment has been distributed in coordination with the Province’s Directorate of Livestock and Fisheries Development, Janakpur, he said.
