Dry run of Nepal Railway begins

Janakpurdham, February 14: 'Dry run' train service has started from Kurtha in Dhanusha to Jayanagar in India.

The train parked at the Inaruwa-based railway station of Janaknandani village of Dhanusha has started its service from Sunday. The train from Inaruwa station will reach Janakpur at 11 am, said Niranjan Jha, general manager of Nepal Railway Company.

General Manager of Nepal Railway Company Niranjan Jha informed that the train operated without passengers till the inauguration.

Jha informed that they will start carrying passengers only after the inauguration of the train. From today, the market and people’s movement in the railway track have been banned.

Meanwhile, no date has been set for the official inauguration of the railway service.

Nepal’s Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are set to jointly inaugurate the railway by holding a virtual program.
