Sirha, 20 June: International criminal gangs from Nepal and India have allegedly been involved in the abduction and murder of 31-year-old Somnath Yadav of Jijhaul, Bariyarpatti Rural Municipality-5 along the Nepal-India border in Siraha.
Of the seven arrested in connection with Yadav's abduction and murder, three are in custody of Indian police and four are in the custody of Nepal Police.
Umesh Yadav of Nirmali in Bihar's Supaul district, Upesh yadav alias Rupesh of Siraha Bariyarpatti, Rohit Yadav alias Rahul of Aurahi Rural Municipality-2 and Ram Binay Yadav of Bariyarpatti have been arrested by Siraha police.
Ram Kumar Yadav, 41, of Goth chowk in Siraha’s Dhangadhimai Municipality-5, the mastermind of the crime, his Indian brothers-in-law Satish Yadav and Ramananda Yadav are in the custody of Supaul Police. One Indian national and two Nepali nationals involved in the incident are on the run, said Siraha Police chief, Superintendent of Police (SP), Hira Pandey.
It is not uncommon for criminals to commit crime in Nepal and take shelter in India. Villages across the border in India are becoming places for the abductors to hide and also keep the abductees. Somnath Yadav was abducted on April 9 and was kept in a nearby village. He was killed on the other side of the border. Seven involved in Yadav's abduction and murder have been arrested from bordering Indian cities which confirms the incident of taking shelter across the border after committing a crime.
