Kathmandu, 7 October : Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has CIAA has moved the Special Court against Pappu Construction, a controversial company accused of failing to complete several infrastructure projects around the country.
CIAA filed a corruption case against 12 individuals including government staff and contractor involved in building sub-standard bridge over Babai River at Jabbighat in Bardiya at the Special Court.
The bridge built by Pappu construction, sank on August 3, 2017 before it was formally handed over to the Road Department. Contractor of Pappu Construction, Hari Narayan Yadav has been automatically suspended from lawmaker’s post after the case was lodged against him.
Among those charged by the anti-graft body are Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal lawmaker Hari Narayan Yadav, owner of the Pappu Construction, his son and chairperson of the company, SumitRauniyar, Bhanu Joshi, ManojShrestha, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, chiefs of Division Road Office, Nepalgunj during the construction period, Nawaraj K.C, officiating division chief, Engineers—PremPrasad Chuwai, HariBahadurKhadka and DipendraBahadurBista, Sub-Engineers Karma TenzingTamang and Govinda Gaire and KrishnadevYadav, proprietor of Everest Engineering Consultant.
