Planting trees at Sabaiya Jungle as part of ‘Harit Pradesh Abhiyan’ (Green Province Campaign) in Parsa district, Raut said it would be inappropriate to chop down trees until the detailed project report (DPR) of the Nijgadh International Airport was finalised. Raut said the provincial government won’t let the trees be cut until the DPR was finalised. “Mafias are using their power to cut down trees without preparing the DPR,” Raut said.

Secretary of Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, Megh Nath Kafle said that a total budget of Rs 1.3 billion has been allocated for the campaign in the current fiscal year. According to him, a minimum of 50,000 trees will be planted across the eight districts, on Friday, to mark the beginning of the campaign.
The campaign emphasizes developing greener cities, villages, roads, ponds, temples and river banks across the province.
