Kathmandu, 28 October : Acting Chairperson of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Rajendra Shrestha pointed out that the provincial government has the sole responsibility to maintain peace and security of the respective province.

During a programme in the capital city, leader Shrestha said because the central government failed to make the laws that may have connection to the laws on provincial police, it created tussle between the provincial and central governments. Provincial government makes laws to operate its daily affairs, he added.

Likewise on the occasion, Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak stressed the need for the provincial government to have its own police.

He viewed that tension surfaced between the province and center primarily as a result of failure to amend Nepal Police Act and to make federal laws on time. He also accused the federal government of having anti-federal mindset.
