During a programme on 'Democracy and Gandhian thoughts in 21st century'' organized by the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Memorial Foundation on the 150th Gandhi Jayanti, President Deuba reminded that Gandhi was the towering figure of the Indian independence movement.

Moreover, he termed the late Mahendra Narayan Nidhi as the Gandhian leader and his thoughts and way of life are still relevant.

The regime brought by the war and weapons can't sustain long, he argued.

Nepal Communist Party leader Ghanashyam Bhushal said, "Gandhi can be viewed even from Marxist view point." Gandhi's movement against violence is unforgettable, he added.

Congress (I) Secretary Chandra Kumar said the present day youths need to be informed about the ideals and principles of the Gandhi.

Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Memorial Foundation Chairman Purushottam Dahal, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri and others said Gandhi is the leader not only of India but of the world.
